The loop is far more than a scenic drive. It is a journey through remote hill-tribe villages, cliff-edge passes and the living traditions of the ethnic communities of Vietnam’s far north.
We run motorbike, easy rider and jeep tours, plus the longer Ha Giang–Cao Bang route — from 270 to 550 km across the Dong Van Karst Plateau and Non Nuoc Cao Bang, two UNESCO Global Geoparks. Every departure is led by guides born in these mountains.

Your tour start date is Day 1. Day 0 is the travel day — take a day or night bus the day before. Your Day 0 dorm bed at Loop Trails Hostel is included.
Take a day or night bus from Hanoi, Ninh Binh, Sapa or Cat Ba. Your dorm bed at Loop Trails Hostel is included and the tour starts at 08:00 the next morning.
About 130 km over Bac Sum Pass and the Heaven Gate, past the Twin Mountains and Lung Tam linen village, then up Tham Ma Pass onto the karst plateau. Homestay night in Dong Van.
About 100 km. Walk the Ma Pi Leng skywalk above the Tu San Canyon, ride the M-Pass and Sa Ly Pass, then descend into the quiet valley of Du Gia.
About 90 km. Morning swim at Du Gia waterfall, viewpoints over Duong Thuong valley and a forest road along the Mien River. Back at the hostel around 16:00.
Bus to Ha Giang the day before. Dorm bed at Loop Trails Hostel included.

Lung Cu Flag Tower, lunch in Dong Van, the Ma Pi Leng skywalk and a Nho Que River boat trip. Hotel night in Meo Vac.
About 145 km of passes to Bao Lac, a hike above the Khau Coc Cha switchbacks and the Pac Bo historical site. Tay homestay night.
Ancient fossils, a hike to a viewpoint over Ngoc Con valley and a bamboo-raft ride at Ban Gioc Waterfall. Night in a stone village.
Nguom Ngao Cave, paper and incense craft villages and God’s Eye Mountain. Tour ends around 16:00.
Never more than eight travellers, so your guide and riders can give real personal care and let the day flow at your pace.
Walk village lanes, browse local markets and learn crafts with H’Mong, Tay, Lo Lo and Nung hosts — genuine moments, never a staged show.
Licensed Ha Giang locals with official guiding cards, clear English and deep knowledge of every pass and viewpoint.
Quality helmets, knee and elbow guards, raincoats and well-maintained bikes come standard on every departure.
Hand-picked stilt houses and mountain lodges with great views. Private and family rooms are available on request.
Fresh, locally sourced highland food at every stop, with vegetarian and vegan options whenever you need them.
Our guide spoke great English, knew every viewpoint and kept the group relaxed and laughing. The homestays were simple but spotless, and the food was some of the best we had in Vietnam.
Roof down, music on and those mountains all around — we did not miss a single small road. A perfectly organised trip from the bus pickup to the last waterfall.
Small group, friendly easy riders and stops away from the crowds. They even surprised me with a cake on my birthday. I would do it again tomorrow.

Sunrise over Ma Pi Leng, an empty switchback, a stilt-house dinner with a H’Mong family. Long enough to forget your inbox, short enough to feel every kilometre. The only thing missing is you.
