Overview
This grand route links the Dong Van Karst Plateau with Non Nuoc Cao Bang Geopark. After Ma Pi Leng you cross into Cao Bang province for remote passes, Tay stilt-house villages and the famous Ban Gioc Waterfall on the border.
The tour ends in Cao Bang City in time for an evening bus back to Hanoi.

Arrive in Ha Giang
Bus to Ha Giang the day before. Dorm bed at Loop Trails Hostel included.

Day 1 · Tour starts
Ha Giang → Quan Ba → Lao Xa
About 110 km via the Heaven Gate and Tham Ma Pass to a H’Mong silversmith village. Homestay night in Lao Xa.

Day 2
Lao Xa → Lung Cu → Ma Pi Leng → Meo Vac
Lung Cu Flag Tower, lunch in Dong Van, the Ma Pi Leng skywalk and a Nho Que River boat trip. Hotel night in Meo Vac.

Meo Vac → Bao Lac → Pac Bo
About 145 km of passes to Bao Lac, a hike above the Khau Coc Cha switchbacks and the Pac Bo historical site. Tay homestay night.

Day 4
Tra Linh → Ngoc Con → Ban Gioc
Ancient fossils, a hike to a viewpoint over Ngoc Con valley and a bamboo-raft ride at Ban Gioc Waterfall. Night in a stone village.

Day 5
Ban Gioc → Cao Bang City
Nguom Ngao Cave, paper and incense craft villages and God’s Eye Mountain. Tour ends around 16:00.
